So….I’m currently working on a new website (which will go live soon !) and along with that, some big changes for this business. I’m changing my business name. Its going to be something shorter, more personal, timeless…
But in the meantime, it’s all still a secret. So just stay tuned, my lovelies, because…
Its all coming. Soon.

[And thank you, tea, for keeping me warm on these cold winter days.]

At the end of last year, Sam from Everlasting Images asked me to join he and Greg from Love is Greater for a band photoshoot. I hadn’t photographed a band in awhile so I was happy to participate. Band shoots are one of my favorites. They are so much different than anything else. We began shooting at dusk and then into the dark so that we could work with off camera lighting, which happened to be my first time. It’s a bit tricky at first and probably not something I’d want to use everytime (I am fond of natural light), but it really can make for some incredible night shots. The three of us took turns shooting and holding the lights to capture the boys of In Theory.

Snow is good for one thing: cute photoshoots. (Other than that, no thank you. I’ll take the sun & green grass.) But since Brooke & Justin live out of town and won’t be back much until their wedding this summer, we met while they were home for Christmas. Brooke’s grandmother has acres of beautiful property out in the country, so it was the perfect backdrop for our shoot, and even better covered in snow.

Jodie & Stephen’s engagement session was featured on the fabulous Rock ‘n Roll Bride ! Check it out here. It’s a great site full of beautiful inspiration. Thanks Kat, for the feature.

Wishing you a (very belated) Merry Christmas & Happy New Year ! The truth is, I took a few weeks off during December to enjoy the holidays with my husband and our families. We had a wonderful month ! But now, its back to business.
A few weeks ago I did an engagement session for two of my long time friends, Jodie & Stephen, who are getting married in just a few short weeks. They wanted to do something out of the norm (which I always love to hear) so they brought some really fun vintage props, and then I came up with an unusual location for the shoot…which they loved ! For the first part of the shoot we stopped in a local alley way and then we headed out of the cold and into, well, a laundry mat. Ironically enough, Stephen used to be in a band that I did photos for years ago, and we did their shoot in a laundry mat as well. I haven’t shot in one since then, I was waiting for the perfect couple. And well, these two lovebirds just fit the idea. Their wedding is going to be a beautiful winter wonderland of sorts and in a fabulous location, so stay tuned.
ps. Remembering the Day Photography is getting a BIG makeover. More on that later…

I CANNOT believe we’re nearing the end of the year. Seems like just a week or two ago I was looking ahead to my 2009 season and bracing myself for some craziness. And now, it’s over. So quickly. I have been really busy the last few weeks with end of the year & holiday goodness/business, so I am sorry for the lack of posts. I’ll be back sooner than later. There are some new things pending, and I am looking forward to sharing it all !
Just to let everyone know, all images for ordering will be taken off the ordering site by January 1st. So if you have any portrait or wedding orders to place, you have until December 31st.
I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season. Its coming and going too quickly !

On another beautiful autumn morning and after many failed attempts (weather, sickness…) this lovely little family & I were finally able to meet up for their yearly portrait session. I photographed them when there were only three of them, and then I had the opportunity to capture’s Lydia’s arrival into the world last year. I love getting to shoot families year after year and seeing how the kids are growing & changing
And yes…it is official that autumn is my favorite time of year to shoot !

I love maternity sessions. There is something so beautiful about them, so intimate. Maybe it’s the mystery of who the baby is going to be, what they’re going to look like, or in Nancy & Tim’s case…what the sex is. (They know, but they’re keeping it a secret !) Nancy & I met two, (or three years ago?) when she contacted me about doing some anniversary portraits of her and her husband. We clicked instantly, as we had many things in common. She’s an artistic individual herself so we get along fabulously, now meeting for lunch on a fairly regular basis or wandering the Art Museum on a Friday night.
Earlier this summer we went to dinner and she was showing me her pictures from their recent trip to Europe. I knew they had been talking babies so I kept saying, “Are you pregnant yet??” She avoided the question
And then at the end of the photos, I saw a picture of her & her cousins saying goodbye at the airport and they were touching her belly…a classic sign of pregnancy. Nancy & Tim are expecting little baby O sometime in early 2010. Needless to say I am beyond excited for them, and I cannot wait to meet the little one !
I really love the following images…so beautiful, and such a beautiful way to capture this journey in their lives.

This post is long overdue….
Blaire & Chris were married last month on a very chilly & windy October day. But thank the Good Lord, when it was time for pictures, things cleared up just a bit. These two were married at Westgate Chapel and had their reception at the Brandywine Country Club. They are a beautiful couple, with an equally beautiful bridal party ! ’Twas a lovely autumn day for a wedding ….

So now that wedding season is officially over for 2009 here at Remembering the Day Photography, I’ve been a bit neglectful of the blog. But in my absence, I’ve been thinking and creating non-stop in order to bring some new things around here sooner rather than later. I hope 2010 is as wonderful as 2009 was [I know, I know, the year isn't over yet, but in this photo biz my mind is moving full speed ahead.]
Anyway, one of the things I’ve been thinking about is how when I first started shooting weddings and sessions, let’s be honest. I had a lot to learn. But one of the best things I did to better myself and my career was to shadow some extremely experienced & successful photographers in order to learn and be inspired by them. And so, while I have a bit more free time on my hands, I thought that perhaps I could offer something similiar. I get a lot of inquiries from people who want to get into photography whether it be professionally or just as a hobby and they have a fancy camera, but don’t know how to use it. And so, I’d like to start offering some one on one sessions for anyone & everyone who’d like to learn a thing or two about photography. I don’t claim to know it all by any means [I too am still learning & growing everyday as an artist, and always striving to be better & better], however, I have learned a thing or two in the last several years. And so….if you are interested in setting up a one on one photo lesson session, please email me at noelleshumer@yahoo.com.
Initially we will cover the basics: camera functions, lighting, posing. We’ll even work together on a shoot with some lovely & willing models
I’d love to work with with you ! So don’t be shy…contact me for more info if you’re interested.
