The first wedding of the new year, and what a lovely one it was to ring in the 2010 season. Jodie & Stephen were married at the Maumee Indoor Theater on Conant, and I must say, it is my new favorite venue for a wedding. [Side note: if you need a location for your wedding, check it out. The owner is awesome. The place is awesome.] Anyway, I loved everything about this wedding…it was so unique, so creative. The best part is that even though the weather did not cooperate [ahem, rain..in January] the theater is beautiful inside, so we were able to do some incredible indoor photos. Honestly, the reason I love shooting weddings so much is that I believe in the beauty of the lifelong journey that marriage is, and I love being able to capture that from day one of the journey. After all, the wedding is just the beginning…

This post is long overdue….
Blaire & Chris were married last month on a very chilly & windy October day. But thank the Good Lord, when it was time for pictures, things cleared up just a bit. These two were married at Westgate Chapel and had their reception at the Brandywine Country Club. They are a beautiful couple, with an equally beautiful bridal party ! ’Twas a lovely autumn day for a wedding ….

Two weekends in a row two of my good friends were married. After Angel & Zak came Lynn & Courtney. These two had a small ceremony of about fifty of their closest family & friends at Sidecut Park. It was a beautiful afternoon, one of the chilliest we had had at that point, but still a beautiful day. After the ceremony we did a few portraits at the park (I love the autumn colors!) and then we did a few downtown before we went to their wedding celebration dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse. I love that I have such beautiful & creative friends who have non-traditional but still unique & special weddings. (Side Note: Lynn made both of her hair pieces out of vintage materials. She’s a crafty lady !)
Congrats Lynn & Courtney, I love you and I hope you are enjoying the Bahamas !

…Not to be bias, but outdoor weddings are my favorite !
I have been really excited to share this wedding. These two love birds were finally married on a beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon. This wedding was special in so many ways. They are close friends of my husband & myself, so when they were looking for a place to get married, we suggested they get married at the same place we did just a little over five years ago…my mother in law’s beautiful property out in Whitehouse. So they did ! Their wedding was filled with so many lovely details (which I already oooohhed and ahhhhed here)… so very vintage, and so very Zak & Angel. I was happy to be able to be apart of something so creative & so beautiful.

I am really excited to get this wedding up on the blog. Oh my, so beautiful. Here are just a few reasons why this union of my two beautiful friends was so unique & oh so special:
…they were married at the same place my husband and I were…my mother in law’s beautiful property !
…it was a lovely mix of the bride & groom’s closest friends & family
…they had a potluck dinner & home brewed beer
…Angel used peacock feathers as her inspiration for colors & decorations
…they had a polaroid photobooth for the guests
So, all of the above created a, well, really incredible wedding. So here is just a little peek:

…Incredible evening light for the portraits, it couldn’t have been more perfect. More to come !

John & Jessica were married last weekend at the beautiful Rosary Cathedral, and had their reception at Space 237, a local art gallery. I really love the idea of having a reception in such a unique and urban space, it’s becoming my favorite type of place to shoot. John’s family owns the local Le Petit Gourmet restaurant & catering company, so the food was amazing…a delicious selection of, well, gourmet appetizers. And instead of a wedding cake, John & Jessica opted for a cupcake tower….my favorite ! I really enjoyed being a part of such a unique & beautiful wedding.

Two beautiful people (inside & out !) + one beautiful day = a really lovely wedding. Kate & Karl were married in Fremont, Ohio last Saturday, and had their reception at Lyman Harbor, a beautiful location overlooking Cedar Point. They set aside a good portion of time for pictures, so we were able to get some beautiful photos at Spiegel Grove in Fremont.

Stephanie & Erik flew me all the way to Atlanta, Georgia to shoot their amazingly beautiful wedding at the King Plow Arts Center downtown Atlanta. Their wedding was such a beautiful event, with so many great little details…everything from the coffee bar, to the groom’s cake in the shape of a Starbucks cup, to the coffee beans guests threw on the bride and groom as they left the reception…(the new Mister & Misses met at Starbucks. Hence the love of coffee.) The venue itself was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the humid southern rain put a damper on outdoor photos, but thankfully the place was incredible inside & out.
Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Rostad !

Krystal and Ben were married late last month in Defiance at Krystal’s Aunt & Uncle’s home. It was a beautiful afternoon, a bit chilly for August, but still beautiful, blue skies and nice summer breeze. They were married by the pond on the property and then had their reception under a big tent decorated with beach inspired details. I know this event was a long time in coming, and Krystal and her family put a lot into making it such a wonderful day !
